Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Officer Qualifications
STEP 1: Meet the qualifications
- A natural-born citizen of the Philippines;
- Of Good Moral Character;
- 21-24 years old;
- Single;
- At least 5’0″ in height (for male and female);
- Graduate of four-year course;
- With Professional Civil Service Eligibility (rating of 82% and above); or
- With PRC license;
- Physically and mentally fit; and
- Has passed the PCG Aptitude Battery Test (PCGABT).
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Non-Officers Qualification
- A natural-born citizen of the Philippines;
- Of good moral character;
- Single;
- 18-26 years old;
- At least 5’0″ in height (for male and female);
- Has earned at least 72 units; or
- Senior high school graduate provided that he/she has completed TESDA courses;
- Physically and mentally fit; and
- Has passed the PCG Aptitude Battery Test (PCGABT).
STEP 2: Submit initial requirements

Submit the following documents to the nearest PCG district to schedule your PCG Aptitude Battery Test (ABT):

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Aptitude Battery Test
Step 3: Take the Aptitude Battery Test
Prepare well for the PCG ABT. On the day of the exam, applicants should wear the following:
- white shirt
- maong pants
- white socks
- rubber shoes.
NOTE: Applicants are also expected to have proper hair cut and clean nails.
Step 4: Take the Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
After passing the PCG ABT, applicants shall proceed to their respective PCG district to take the Physical Fitness Test (PFT).Hence, while waiting for the result of the exam, applicants are encouraged to prepare physically to pass the PFT.
Step 5: Take the medical, dental and neurological exams
Step 6: Undergo final deliberation
Applicants who will pass the ABT, PFT, Medical, Dental and Neurological exams shall then undergo the final deliberation.
The recruitment board members will determine who among the applicants are qualified to take the Coast Guard Officer’s Course (CGOC) or Coast Guardsman’s Course (CGMC) training.
Step 7: Join the oath-taking ceremony of PCG Trainees
Successful applicants will be informed about the details of the oath taking ceremony.
They will also be tasked to prepare the things that they need for the CGOC or CGMC Training

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said and enticed individuals that the entry-level salary of enlisted personnel with a rank of Apprentice is P37,000.00. Furthermore, the entry-level salary for a commissioned officer with a rank of Ensign is P51,000.00.
Elson Hermogino, Former PCG Commandant Admiral said that they’re looking to fill their workforce with 36,000 personnel; he said that their goal is to populate it in about three (3) years. He added that they’re looking for non-officers, officers, and civilian employees.
